Hurricane Ike proved to be a vicious opponent for the Viking football team this Sunday. Habanero and his team played in 40+ mph winds with gusts up to 70 mph. Tree limbs were crashing around us and debris pelted us from all directions. But they got the game in! Unfortunately, it was a defeat for the Vikings.
We were left without power for about 20 hours, which gave us the opportunity to play an exciting game of family hide-n-seek. So tonight, after picking up branches and limbs from the yard, we celebrated having the power of electricity with a cake (since we had to throw out all of our ice cream).
I hope that this finds everyone safe and happy, and praising God for His awesome and glorious power. There are just some things that we will never be able to control, no matter how technologically advanced we are.
20 hours! Wow! Ours was only out for about 7 hours or so. Four of those we weren't even home! That's when we invaded my parents' house, who surprisingly still had electricity. That's funny considering they're way out there!
